Frozen ground and heavy snow create costly winter delays for excavation and snow removal operations.

This guide breaks down 5 must-have Werk-Brau attachments for cold-weather performance, including the V-line Strada Frost and Rock bucket for fracturing frozen layers, the frost and rock ripper with T1 steel shank for pre-ripping, the high-capacity light material loader bucket for bulk snow, the hydraulic angle broom in 6 to 12-foot widths for pavement clearing, and the commercial-duty snow pusher with reversible rubber edge.

Winters here, bringing frozen ground, heavy snow and project delays. If you're tired of fighting the cold with the wrong tools, you're in the right place.

Welcome to Werk-Brau, I'm Alex Andrews, and in this video, we're counting down the top five Werk-Brau winter attachments that will turn your winter challenges into profitable opportunities.

Kicking off our countdown at number five is an attachment for one of winter's toughest opponents, frozen ground. Werk-Brau’s V-line Strada Frost and Rock bucket was created to rip right into the frozen ground and get your job moving along. This isn't your average digging bucket. This aggressive V shape isn't just for looks.
It's strategic. It's designed to focus all your excavators break out force through the teeth, acting like a spearhead to penetrate the ground instead of just scraping it.

It's built with high strength, abrasion resistant steel in the critical wear areas. This is your go to for excavation when the frost is deep and you have to break new ground for foundation utilities or trenching. It turns your machine really into a tool that can effectively fracture through tough, layered material. It's on the list because it solves a fundamental winter problem. It gets you into the ground so the real work can get started.

Coming in at number four is an attachment that might look familiar if you move lightweight material like corn, silage, feed, and similar items. Yes, I'm talking about Werk-Brau’s light material loader bucket.

This bucket is great for clearing parking lots and open spaces that needs the snow to be stacked up and out of the way. The design of this bucket is all about maximizing capacity for materials with density up to 2,000 pounds per cubic yard.

So it's perfect for snow. Notice the curved sides along the side plates and the increased roll back. That's engineered to provide over 5% greater material retention, meaning when you scoop it up, you keep it in the bucket. This attachment is a beast on a wheel loader for clearing fresh snow. It makes the list because it recognizes that with the snow, the enemy isn't the weight, it's bulk.

This bucket lets you move more snow and fewer passes, clearing jobs faster and saving fuel.

My number three pick is for when the ground is frozen solid. Sometimes you face conditions so extreme that even a specialized frost bucket will struggle.  When you can't dig it, you have to break it first. For that, you might need the Werk-Brau frost and rock ripper. This isn't a bucket, it's pure concentrated force. The whole design is centered around maximum penetration.

It's got a heavy duty shank with a single aggressive tooth meant to pre rip to the ground. It takes your excavators power and focuses it on one point shattering material that a bucket can't handle.  This tool was built tough using high yield T1 steel in the high stress area points. The Ripper isn't moving material, but for prepping it, you can use a ripper to fracture and break up frozen ground or pavement.

Then you can come back with a bucket to clear the debris easily. While other tools, like hydraulic breakers, all have their own place and form, and use the Ripper is an indispensable tool for excavators and backhoes and many where you're excavation on demolition sites.  Of course, the effectiveness will depend on your machine size and power. But when you need to break up frozen tough ground, this is a fantastic option. It turns an impossible job into a manageable one.

Now we pivot from breaking the ground to clearing it. Coming in at a strong number two is the Werk-Brau wheel loader skid steer and backhoe angle broom. Snow pushers and buckets are great for bulk removal, but they aren't always the right tool for finishing the right job.

Imagine you have a lot or a large access road that needs to be cleared right away, down to the pavement after a light dry snow. Or you may be dealing with the slush left after a fall. This is where the wheel loader skid steer, backhoe angle broom really shines and outperforms. It's available in multiple lists like six, seven, eight, ten, or 12 depending on the machine and key features is the hydraulic angle adjustment.

You can swing the broom 30 degrees left or right without stopping, letting you throw snow neatly to the side in a single continuous pass.

Powered by high torque hydraulic motors, the poly wire bristles are tough on snow, but are designed to be gentler on the surface, making it a good choice for decorative pavers or asphalt you really don't want to do too much damage too. It's great for clearing large areas quickly and leaving the clean, safe surface. It handles snow, dirt, slush, and many other avenues with ease.

This attachment, designed for wheel loaders, skid steers and backhoes, makes the number two spot because of its versatility and precision. Like the light material, because it's not just for snow,  it's a year round cleanup tool. But in winter, its ability to provide a fast, clean sweep is a huge advantage.

And here it is. My number one attachment for winter work.

The Werk-Brau snow pusher.

When the snow is deep and the lots are huge, few tools are as effective moving massive volumes of snow.
For commercial clients like hospitals, airports, distribution centers, time is critical. You can't mess around with a small bucket or a plow that leaves remains and you have to clean up later. You need to move a mountain of snow and you need to do it fast. The Werk-Brau Snow Pusher is the ultimate tool for this.

It's basically a giant containment box. The tall plow face and large side plates let you push a huge amount of snow with every pass without it spilling over the sides. You're not just plowing it, you're relocating it in the bulk. You push it from one end of the lot to the other and stack it in giant piles.

The pushers are built for commercial duty, and one of their best features is the reversible and replaceable rubber cutting edge. This is a huge advantage over steel. The rubber edge absorbs shock, protects the pavement from gouging, and scrapes the surface clean, which is especially helpful with wet, heavy snow.

For loaders, skid steers and backhoes, a snow pusher is a champion of a high volume snow removal tool. Nothing clears wide open lots quite like a pusher. It turns your machine into a snow moving powerhouse and is one of the most valuable tools for serious winter maintenance operations.

Before we wrap up, I have to give an honorable mention to our simple but effective setup a standard heavy duty bucket upgrade with frost teeth

For contractors who face moderately frozen ground but maybe don't need a dedicated ripper, v bucket, snow pusher, this can really be a great cost effective solution, and quick. Adding frost teeth can improve a bucket's ability to penetrate that tough, cold crusted soil, giving you extra bite without investing in a separate attachment. It's a practical, real world upgrade that deserves some love.

So there you have it. My top five Werk-Brau winter attachments to make that winter work so much easier.

As you can see, the secret isn’t one magical tool. It's about having the right tool for the specific challenge you are facing.

For breaking into that rock solid frozen ground, you've got options like the Frost and Rock Ripper and the V-Line strata Rock bucket

For moving mountains of snow with incredible efficiency

there's a snow pusher and a light material bucket. And for that fast, clean finish on large surfaces, consider that angle broom as your best friend.

So don't let the weather dictate your work schedule.

By investing in the right attachments. You keep your crews busy and your business productive all season long.

Winter isn't a roadblock, it's an opportunity.
