A materials manager at POET breaks down why they switched from a roll off bucket to a Werk-Brau Ejector Bucket on their John Deere 544P wheel loader. They’re handling dried distillers grain every day, running multiple operators, loading trucks indoors and outside and needed something more controlled, cleaner, and easier on maintenance.
Here’s what stood out:
– Better control when unloading material
– Less spillage and cleaner feeding
– No more constant welding and repairs like with roll off buckets
– Safer operation in low-clearance areas
– Ability to push material directly into trucks without lifting high
Unlike traditional buckets that rely on dumping, ejector buckets use a hydraulic push-out system to discharge material, giving operators more precision and reducing waste. If you're dealing with feed, grain, or any material that needs controlled placement, this is the kind of upgrade that makes a difference day-to-day.
If you're currently running a roll off bucket… this is worth paying attention to.
Machine: John Deere 544P
Wheel Loader Attachment: Werk-Brau Ejector / Push-Out Bucket
Applications: Feedlots, ethanol plants, grain handling, bulk material loading
I've been with POET for 25 years now.
And now I've become manager of materials team. So I got four guys that operate machine every day.
So this is, dried distillers grain.
it gets to about 11% moisture.
And this is fed to cows, pigs, turkeys, chickens.
we had a New Holland that had a bucket on it that was a roll off bucket.
I like this better.
I do like the control of it. You don't make as much mess, out in the alleys when we are loading outside. Roll off bucket, the problem we had with that, too, was there was a pin on the bottom that roll off pin, we would always have to re weld that the maintenance guys were getting sick of it.
So it has improved.
if, you know, you got low ceilings or whatever, you can see the structure up here where we do have trucks back up here, you don't have to have that bucket roll up high and hit that structure.
So the bucket actually sits right on top where the top part of the truck is and pushes into the truck, which helps out a lot as far as height,
safety wise, that way, control is a lot better to,
If you're in a position like us and you, you had a roll off, switch to this bucket, it'll, it'll help you out
